Lotter Otter: new work by Laurence Broderick

Sandaig Otter maquette iv, bronze ed of 50
When I unpack newly arrived boxes in the gallery, it always reminds me of childhood Christmases. Inside the wrapped box might be a cassette player, or it might be an itchy shirt with poppers. Today's box from Laurence Broderick was a very pleasant box to unpack.

We now have five wonderful otters: from a five foot high fountain, to smaller maquettes. All of them are great as you would expect from one of Britain's leading wildlife sculptors.

The biggest surprise was his Barn Owl - with a fantastic green patination and owlish movement in it; and a baby elephant maquette. I've not seen either of these works before, but it's been worth the wait.
